» SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Sainte-Flavie economic development Committee was legally incorporated in 1986 and reactivated in 2004 with the implementation of the Pacte rural (rural policy). Then as now, their mission was "To make Sainte-Flavie a well-known, must-see stopping place for visitors; to give Sainte-Flavie its own look and its own trademark; to make it a distinctive attraction both for tourists and the townspeople."

The Committee has had its own logo since 2005. Its soaring arrow symbolizes the community's advancements in social and economic development. The letters CDSE carried on dancing waves represent a harmonious life on the river. The blue colour represents the sea shore, and the yellow symbolizes the joy and creative energy present in the community.

The Committee draws up a new action plan each year and carries out several mission-related activities. Below, a few of the high points from 2006-2007.

In June, an after-hours party at the Galerie d'Art welcomed contractors and business people from the municipality. The event was intended to give them a chance to get together, do some networking and get to know what each one had to offer to tourists and visitors coming to our region during the summer.

The Committee has also been working hard since 2005 to increase Sainte-Flavie's visibility for tourists and improve quality of life for residents. They organized a public awareness campaign for excessive speed on the roads, put up a signboard on Autoroute 20, installed a tourist information display panel in Place Flavie-Drapeau and collaborated with the municipality on the creation of a new web site.

The CDSE also set up a display of photos taken by photographer Bruno Roy in Sainte-Flavie. In the fall, the photo exhibit at the Art Gallery in the Centre culturel du Vieux Presbytère will be open to the public. They also organized a photo contest on the theme "Beautiful Sainte-Flavie" ("Sainte-Flavie en beauté") so that amateur photographers could exhibit their own photos of Sainte-Flavie in 2008.

The Committee is also looking at new projects and anyone who has ideas for new projects is invited to contact us to exchange ideas and get involved in the social and economic life of Sainte-Flavie.
